Winter Lily
This is a piece I made for my shell forming project at school. I am so proud of this piece as it is a real jump in my workmanship and I honestly believe that it is one of those VERY SPECIAL pieces that could be compared to the "big names" in jewelry. The photography on this one isn't too shabby either.
It is made with 20 gauge sterling silver sheet metal, formed into the shape of a lily with nothing more than a couple of hammers. I soldered the seam shut, sanded and sanded and sanded until it was SO CLEAN you can't see the seam at all. Then I curled the end - that was scary and difficult. I actually split the seam back open during that part. Then while closing the seam once again, I over heated the silver. UGH! But I got it all cleaned back up and here it is. The lily has a soft matte finish. The edges of the leaf and lily have been burnished and are a bright shiny silver. It is a very sharp piece. I actually wore it to church day, and of course got a few good comments on it. *BIG HUGE GRIN*

My angel benefit/fund raiser is off to a great start. I sold 5 angels yesterday. So the gift for the Pre-eclampsia foundation is up to $55 so far. My goal is to raise $1,000. It is a HUGE Stretch. I haven't sold that much in one month so far so this is going to be great! I really want to make it.
PLEASE tell everyone!
It is such a great way to honor my baby and those whose lives have been lost to Pre-eclampsia. You can see a daily total gift amount on my website at www.kcjewelbox.com.

*Melissa takes a grand sweeping bow* and humbly says.... Thank you!
This was a fun and difficult piece to make. I hope I get to make more. Oh how I have tool envy of people that have really cool stakes and hammers. Why oh why can't I just win the lottery? Oh! Wait! I know! I haven't ever purchased a ticket. HA!
Seriously though, Thank you very much for the Kudos. I really do appreciate them.

This is a absolutely gorgeous designer piece! I love it! Melissa, do you do your own photography as well? This shot is very professional and beautiful. If you do your own photography, how did you create this reflection? Love all your work.

Thank you Christine.
Yes I do my own photography. This is the first time I have ever had one turn out so nice. I am really hoping it wasn't a fluke. Let's hope I am just getting better at photography. The reflection is created by black plate.
Thanks again!

Beanie! You are amazing! It looks so Lord of the Rings Elv-ish. I love it! If you are going to sell that piece, you sell it to me and no one else.
P.S. I put that necklace of grandma's you gave me under my Christmas tree.

Thank you so much Betsy! I am glad you like it. I don't know that you would want to buy this piece. I don't know if I will sell it or not.
I hope you like grandma's necklace. It is made with Amethyst beads.

Hi KIM!!!!
Thank you! I impressed myself with the lily too. Let's hope I can create some more pieces of that caliber soon.
Our Christmas was wonderful. It was small and quiet. I am looking forward to a wonderful new year. It looks like we will be coming out this spring and I am looking forward to a lunch or dinner with you. I will let you know for sure when it is all planned.
I hope you have a fabulously successful 2008. I can't wait to hear all about it.
