Do you have a dedicated studio/artistic space?  yes

Where is it located?   in my basement,

Is it a large or small space?
small space

What medium(s) do you work in? Do you have a separate area for each?  metals, found objects, photos,

What one word would you use to describe your studio?  one word for my studio....small

What do you think is the best feature of your studio?  lots of storage...cabinets, shelves and drawers

What would you change if you could?  more space, WINDOWS!! I would like to have a space that I can teach in

Can you share an organizational tip?   I try to put things back in their places when I'm done with them... this does not always happen!  I also categorize things my own way and store them this way. My system probably would not make sense to someone else

Describe the usual state of your work table?  orderly mess

Does your work table face out into the room or toward the wall?  wall

What's one drawback of your studio/artistic space?  no ventilation, I am probably slowly killing myself with soldering fumes

Do you have any studio mascots (pets, mannequin whatever)?  no, only pieces that I have made and display

Do you have an idea wall or inspiration board? my inspiration comes from the individual pieces that I make. When I look at them, I get ideas of how I can put things together. I am also inspired by my surroundings and other artistic pieces.

Do you listen to music in your studio? What kind?   I mostly put the tv on for company.  It is the ONLY time I put it on ( with a few exceptions)

Do you display your own work in your studio? Other artists' work?  yes to both .

What's one quirk or unusual feature of your studio?  It is broken up into two sections.  I have one area where I solder, etch and make transfers on metal for etching...that would be by the sink, which is by the washer and dryer...I combine folding cloths and switching loads with making my metal transfers ( men, this would be called MULTI TASKING!) The other area is where I have counter space to sit at and do a lot of the finishing work.  My flex shaft , ovens and various tools are in this area.

It is sometimes painful to enter the studio and actually work ( when Im not passing through to do laundry).  I think this is because I know that once I am down there, I will be there for a long time. Not a problem...but then nothing else gets done ( except the laundry) Taking that initial step to get down there means that I am committing myself to make something...and finish it. Does this make sense??

Thanks so much for participating Kim!!!!

Oh and Kim, I know where you can get a GREAT deal on a beautiful home that has a FABULOUS studio... with ventilation. It is HUGE and there are no washers or dryers to be found.

I'm interested in the lights over the work area with the tool turnaround. Are they boxes with lights in them? Where did you get them?

I'm interested in knowing what lighting you have on the white bolsters. Are the round lights mounted on the underside or is that the whole fixture??
