Featured Artist Friday - Dawn Lombard
Artist name: Lavender Dawn - Handmade Lampwork Beads & Artisan
Jewelry
Location: Connecticut
Do you have a dedicated studio/artistic space? Yes, I have two actually. Studio South is my warm weather, garage studio. Studio North (which is pictured here) is at my fiance's house. It is a converted (and terribly messy) darkroom that I use in the cold months.

Where is it located? It is in the lower level of a split level
home.
Is it a large or small space? I would definitely say it is a very small and cluttered space. So cluttered that I lose my creative inspiration actually. That will change next year when we finish construction on an addition where I am getting a dedicated studio. YAY!

What one word would you use to describe your studio? CHAOS!
What do you think is the best feature of your studio? The fact that I look out the window and see a gorgeous small pond that is across the street (hard to see in the picture) - the sun sets through this window as well. It is so pretty.

Thank you for participating Dawn! Good luck with the move into the new studio.

Do you listen to music in your studio? What kind? Absolutely, I need it -
the quiet is distracting to me. I have a favorite artist that I usually always
listen to while lampworking. That would be Jack Johnson - his music is so mellow
and happy. I just got to my happy place when I hear it.
Describe the usual state of your work table? Total chaos!!!! As you can see
from the picture! I had just finished my first attempt at cloisonne - oye! I got
so frustrated with it that I left the table that messy. Normally I do clean up
my work space after every session - not this time.

What would you change if you could? Have it organized and tidy. Luckily
that WILL happen next year when all the remodeling is complete. My home is super
neat and very well organized - it is hard to find inspiration when you are
surrounded by clutter.
What medium(s) do you work in? Do you have a separate area for each? I am
a lampwork (glass) bead artist and I use both Moretti and Borosilicate glass. I
just took an enameling class and enjoyed it so much that I just purchased a new
kiln to do more in. I just have one space to do my work and that can be seen in
the pictures - it is pretty tight. I also do torch filed enameling as
well.

I appreciate the honesty of your pictures andcomments because I can identify with your frustration and chaos. You are not alone in the world.
You have a plan in mind and that will keep you motivated. Good Luck
