Best wishes and many blessings on your new home, Melissa. It's a terrible wrench, leaving your friends behind. My best friend is in the Vancouver area and I live on the opposite coast, and I have another two "forever" friends two provinces away. But Skype and email is a wonderful thing, and you'll find that the Vancouver/Washington area is a great place to visit and doesn't require much pursuading. Good luck!

My heart goes out to you and yours as you embark on this next step. We did something similar in '83 and it was a challenge. While we have never regretted the choice, we haven't considered doing it again. It just such a disruption, to everything! Smile, breath deep and go forth!

When I did my initial research I had it narrowed down to two, the Durston and pepe mills. In the end I chose the Durston. It had great reviews and relatively few issues that I could find. I chose one that had a flat section and wire section. In hindsight, I don't really need the wire part. I need to get more creative in that department and find a way to utilize it better.

When I get settled into our new home in the next couple weeks, I will try to discuss this a bit further for you.

Christine, I use sharpie markers. The color burns off and does not inhibit solder flowing. At least I have never had an issue with that. It has saved me a lot of questioning and makes finding my solder so simple.

Hello Melissa,
In the soldering tutorial you mention that you color-code your solder. What do you use to color them? Does the dye/ink in any way interfere with the solder flowing? I think it's a great idea because little bits can be salvaged & sorted instead of being thrown away.

Which rolling mill do you recommend? Brand and style? Pros and Cons. I am indecisive. Thanks for your helpful hints and resources.
